Healing on the Move
The people who do this.
We are artists, social activists and mental health practitioners who were forced to leave our countries, because of war, economic collapse, or who we are. We work from lived experience and professional practice at once, and we do not treat those as separate qualifications.
The founders
Hane Alrustm
Co-founder, psychoanalyst and IFS practitioner
Hane is a refugee who escaped war in Syria and became a psychoanalyst. That journey, having personally lived the horrors of war and displacement, is what shapes the practice: a space where clients can navigate healing and growth without first having to explain themselves.
Arabic, English
Shadi Alaiek
Co-founder, facilitator
Syrian artist from Salamiyeh, living in Belgium, with a background in fine arts. As an artist he works with the daily experience and memory shaped by conflict, using printmaking to carry the emotional weight of the subject. Shadi facilitates the emotional support group sessions under the Listening Hour programme.
The practitioners
Fourteen people. Open anyone to read what they say about their own work. Opening a name does not book anything.
And
Samah Abu Rajab
Creative designer
Samah is a graphic designer who believes art is a tool for transformation. She designs and leads the organisation's visual identity, so that what people see carries the same care as what they receive.
Dalal Adi
Finance lead
Dalal is a business graduate with an MSc in Digital Business, and she looks after the money: what is planned, what is spent, and what is left. She works close to the rest of the organisation rather than at a distance from it, because a figure only means something when you know the work behind it. Practitioner payments, session fees and what the organisation can afford to promise sit with her.
Where to next
If you are in immediate danger, or thinking of ending your life, this page is not the right help. Call the emergency number where you are: 112 in Belgium and across the European Union. In Belgium, Zelfmoordlijn is also on 1813.
