Psychoanalysis in Times of War: A Reading Group

Healing on the Move launches its first psychoanalytic study group, which offers a forum for collective reading and reflection on psychoanalytic texts in relation to contemporary contexts shaped by war, colonization, and forced displacement. The group convenes to engage with foundational texts in English while remaining attentive to the diverse social, political, and cultural realities its members experience.

This initiative also represents a step toward establishing a community of practice, enabling participants to engage in shared study and ongoing reflection, exchange, and mutual support. The group seeks to foster an environment where ideas are discussed alongside clinical and lived experiences, facilitating sustained dialogue that integrates reading, practice, and the complexities of contemporary contexts.

We will read

  • Sigmund Freud: Civilization and Its Discontents.

  • Sigmund Freud: Mourning and Melancholia.
